Geotechnical Engineer Required – Northamptonshire

ListersGeo are a long established Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Consultancy that operates throughout the UK. Our steadily expanding team of engineers provide a high quality of service in all aspects of ground investigation.

          Key Attributes:

  • A BSc in Geology or related subject
  • Self starter, team player with good inter-personal skills and proactive character

Role Outline:

  • Manage a variety of projects from inception to completion
  • Manage financial budgets for projects
  • Undertake fieldwork and supervision of site contractors
  • Preparation of desk study reports, interpretative geotechnical and geoenvironmental reports and waste classification assessments to current UK standards
  • A good understanding of characterising ground conditions and providing recommendations covering foundation design, ground improvements, earthworks, basements, retaining wall, mining and slope stability assessments. Conversant with GEO5 design software and geophysical surveys would be advantageous.
  • A full UK driver’s licence is required for travelling to sites within the UK
  • A valid CSCS card would be advantageous

Site Technician Required –

Field Based – working out of Northants office

ListersGeo require an enthusiastic field based technician to support our ground investigation services. Based out of our offices and laboratories near Towcester, you will be required to travel to site locations across the UK to support our engineers. You will mainly work as part of a team but will be required to work alone at times. This is a physically demanding role, primarily involving obtaining soil samples. Full training can be provided.

          Key Attributes:

  • Love of working outside in variable conditions all year round
  • Willingness to travel and work on sites around the UK, generally within travelling distance of Northamptonshire, in a company provided van
  • A full UK driver’s licence is required for travelling to sites within the UK
  • Already qualified, or keen to undertake training to achieve:
    – Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card
    – Asbestos Awareness
    – Cable Avoidance Tool (CAT) use
    – Manual Handling
  • Self motivated, team player, trustworthy, organised and reliable

Role Outline:

  • Support consulting engineers on site
  • Hand digging foundation inspection pits
  • Hand pitting and augering to obtain soil samples
  • In-situ testing of soils (eg plate loading tests, CBR tests, strength tests, infiltration testing)
  • Soil and rock logging
  • Working alongside fieldwork contractors
  • Gas and groundwater monitoring around the UK
  • Occasional overnight stays
